GARLAND MAGAZINE ARTICLE

I acknowledge and pay my respects to the Country on which I create, and to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples who have never ceded ownership.
I honour and respect their continuing connection to country, arts and culture, community, land, sea and sky.
I acknowledge that sustainability is not a new concept for First nations people and that many areas of thinking sustainably are built on indigenous thinking and practice.
I live on Gadigal/Bidgigal Land in Botany NSW.

Here are some of my pinch pots from the Potters Retreat and Woodfiring at Denbigh over Easter. @susemcintosh  supplied us with 4 luscious glazes - chin, shino, Denbigh ash and white salt. The kiln was an Olsen fast-fire built by Steve William’s at Denbigh in 2025. We fired for around 15 hours, finishing by firing down a bit and holding for 1 1/2 hours in oxidation. It was SO much fun! … and we had lots of good results. 🔥🔥🔥😊😊😊❤️❤️❤️ What an amazing time we have had raising funds for FOSTER A POTTER at our first Potters Retreat and Woodfiring! More Marrakesh, Essouria and Casablanca Marrakesh part 1 … sound on 🔈 On our way to Marrakesh … Sound on 🔉 … I think you’ll like what you hear. We have spent the last 2 days in the south-eastern corner of Morocco, close to the Algerian border, near Merzouga. The Erg Chebbi (erg = sea of dunes) glows orange-red, especially around sunrise and sunset. The performance in a Berber (Amazigh) village was by local Gnawa musicians; just stunning 😍 Fabulous Fez … the old medina, piles of fresh food, spicy Moroccan coffee, the smelly Chouara tannery, exquisite enclosed riads, and more than 9000 laneways with makers galore. We drove about an hour away into the Rif mountains to have lunch with a local Berber family at Gite El Houmar (father, mother and 2 daughters). We picked cabbage and coriander then prepared chicken tajine. We walked with Ahmed through the fields to pick his daughters up from school. We then ate lunch, however the family didn’t eat due to Ramadan. The cabbage was steamed then cooked with a marinade we prepared. The chicken tajine was stacked with potatoes, turnips, carrots etc. All delicious!!!!
