My work, Go West 1, is a record of a 9-day journey across Australia from Sydney to Fremantle in 2025. The sequence of days – from crossing mountain ranges to camping riverside to canola farms and flat dry plains, to the outback and the western coast – blended into one beautiful, long thread of memories. The rich and varied landscapes enveloped us, drawing our van along 4500 kms of bitumen with its dotted white lines, until suddenly we arrived. After a time spent at our hard-won destination, the return to Sydney by a 4-hour flight seemed somehow wrong. This story is imbedded into the form.
