I’m in a gorgeous new book called CERAMICS. This book is beautiful – the paper, the weight, the thickness, the design, the cute loose covers – it invites you to read it, browse it, dip in and out of it. My thanks go to Janine Vangool, Carole Epp and Julia Krueger who chose to include me in amongst the 46 contemporary studio potters and ceramicists included in this 416 page book. Their focus was on independent, working artists with a diversity of objects, styles, backgrounds and cultures.

The book is divided into six sections which they see as a reflection of themes within the field of ceramics today – NARRATIVE, NATURE, LIFE/WORK BALANCE, LESS IS MORE, MORE IS MORE and JOY.
I’m in the NATURE section (with an image of my brooches as the title page:))), but maybe the LIFE/WORK BALANCE would have been appropriate too. Thank you to Greg Piper for several of the images used; he takes the best images.
Two fellow Australian ceramicists join me in the book – Sarah Rayner and Mel Robson. Pretty good hey?!
“CERAMICS highlights the work, studio, processes and inspirations of an interesting variety of artists who work in the field of ceramics, pottery and related creative endeavours. The book is curated by UPPERCASE publisher Janine Vangool along with co-authors Carole Epp and Julia Krueger. With profiles of 46 contemporary studio potters and ceramicists, illustrated with beautiful photography of their work and studio, Volume C: Ceramics is a gorgeous and informative addition to your Encyclopedia of Inspiration library.”
CERAMICS has a dust jacket that can be folded to reveal one of four designs. The website suggests you can keep the jacket around your book or use it for gift wrap, collages or other creative projects. See 4 dust jackets below.
